HISTORY

The creation of the Fawor Foundation, is the result of the far reaching vision of Joanne Pavlis, the President of the Foundation, who since 1998 has marveled at the results of retraining, rehabilitation, and rehoming of the Arabian Horse. Her experience, over many years, with the retraining trials and tribulations associated with the "rejects/retirees" of the Race Track, as well as, the Show Industry, is the basis for the formation of this much needed organization. Her further involvement, with the multitude of Arabian horses that have been simply disgarded by their owners, and in need of second career training, has increased the need for financial support of these wayward Arabian Horses. When One Last Fawor (pronounced Fay-Vor), entered into her life, the circumstances surrounding the introduction became the inspiration Joanne needed for the formation of this Foundation. Fawor became a part of Joanne's riding program by default. Fawor's previous owner contacted Joanne, and expressed her appreciation for the practical side of Jo's Horsemanship Program, as well as, the partnership and coaching ideals Jo promotes between the horse and its rider. She pleaded with Joanne to consider Fawor for her program, and asked Jo to accept Fawor as a donated horse, even though Joanne had no openings, nor could she financially accommodate one more horse. After considerable deliberation and consideration for the life altering situations the owner was facing, after the death of her husband,.....and wanting the best future for the Arabian Gelding, Joanne accepted Fawor into her lesson, and partnership program. Ironically, when presented with the horse's name, and the situation, and adding it to the many years Joanne had worked with the numerous Arabians who needed career changes and new homes, it made the formation of the Foundation a natural "next step". Joanne realized, not only the need for an outreach for the Arabian Breed, ...not as a rescue....but as a way to extend "favors"(Fawor) to those horses that would be in need. That is how one horse, although so many had passed thorough Joanne's program over the years, became the inspiration for The Fawor Foundation.

The Fawor Foundation Mission Statement

This organization is focused on assisting Arabian Horses, and creating an Equine Wellness Center. read more...... We will provide the financial means that are required for the rehabilitation, retraining, and re-homing of the horses in the Fawor Program. The benefits of this support allow many horses to have a second chance, via a new career, or even just a safe retirement environment.

The intentions of this Foundation are to prevent inhumane, unfit living conditions, or forcing horses to face the demise of the slaughterhouse industry. Additionally, this Foundation exists to support youth and equine wellness education programs, Breeder Awareness, Owner Awareness, Trainer support and a networking for horses in need.
